Another Update

Friday they poured in the gravel to fill in our foundation a little bit. On Monday, weather permitting, they will be coming to pour the concrete slab. Wednesday the framing package will arrive and the house should be taking shape shortly after that. We're praying for good weather next week so they can remain on schedule.

Flush!

A couple of things have been accomplished at our house the last couple of days. They placed the bottom plate (pieces of 2x4 that will anchor the studded walls when they are built) along the perimeter of the house.

Today they installed the plumbing. White tubing is for drains, sewer, gray-water. Blue (cold) and Red (hot) tubing is also noticeable in the picture. Those two black "boxes" in the foreground will be the drain basins for the shower and tub in our master bedroom.

Tomorrow we meet with the builder to go over the construction timeline. We are looking forward to this meeting to discuss the details of the construction process as well as ask some questions. Our concrete slab should be poured soon!

Look at our Girls!

Well, it was time. After Anna passed away a few weeks ago, we weren't quite sure when we would be ready to have another cat. Well, we're ready --- and we have two! We got them through some friends at church and we have named these 4 month-old kittens Daisy and Lilly.

Laying the Foundation

I stopped by this afternoon to see that they put the foundation walls up today. It's nice to be able to see the structure of the house take shape.



Above, the little rectangular shape extending from the lower left-hand corner of the picture will be where our front porch will be. The garage is at the top left-hand corner.


Here I'm basically standing in our master bedroom looking northwest. You can see the walls of the screen porch (Anna's Room) on the left.

Let the Party Begin!

They started digging today! The stone in the middle of the picture is basically where our driveway will be. The picture below shows where they have poured the concrete footers for the perimeter of the house.
